Dynamic Rope ? Sport Climbing Rope for Professionals

If you were wondering what kind of sport climbing rope to get, for sure you need to purchase some dynamic rope. While sport climbing shoes are important, they are virtually useless if the sport climbing rope you are using does not help you on the mountain.

Why Sport Climbing Rope Is Needed

There are many reasons why normal rope is not sport climbing rope. The prime reason is that there is no give to regular rope. Sport climbing rope is dynamic. That means that it can adjust to different tolerances and spring back into shape when need be. The rope is far better at handling sudden losses or gains in tension and not degrading over time.

Normal rope can wear out quickly. It is also very rigid and when stress is put on the rope it can actually cause damage internally. In addition to this most rope is organic and it will rot out over time. This is not something you want to chance at all when you are 2000 feet up above a solid rock ravine.

The dynamic rope is usually synthetic so it will not rot out like standard rope. In addition it has a lot more elasticity to it can handle the while it is nowhere near as bouncing as a bungee cord the effect is somewhat similar. The rope will expand when additional force is put on it then bounce back into shape moments later.

Other things that make sport climbing rope a better choice than regular rope is its ability to hold more and that it weighs less. These two things usually do not go together but with dynamic rope this is exactly the opposite.

Synthetic rope is made from material far lighter than its organic counterpart. For the non organic rope this is true because the material used is specifically tailored to making it as strong and light as possible whereas the organic one is being used out of its intended environment.

The synthetic is also light because the materials that are used in it are usually far lighter than their organic counterparts. A synthetic will not always be lighter than an organic, but for the most part this is the case.

The hope can also hold far more weight than its organic counterpart. Again this is caused because the rope is specifically engineered for this purpose. If given the choice always opt for the synthetic, your results will be a lot more predictable.
